The Special Rescue from Heights and Depths unit – SRHT for short – of the Hanover Fire Department is celebrating its 25th anniversary and will be presenting itself at INTERSCHUTZ 2026 in Hanover at the High-Angle Rescue Pavilion (Pavilion 34, open-air site). Visitors can look forward to exciting insights, live demonstrations, and the national performance competition of high-angle rescue teams.

In 2026, the Special Rescue from Heights and Depths unit – SRHT for short – of the Hanover Fire Department looks back on 25 years of demanding and highly professional operational service.
At INTERSCHUTZ, the unit invites all interested visitors to experience state-of-the-art equipment, innovative rescue techniques, and the unique teamwork of the high-angle rescue specialists up close.

A Special Highlight
The national skills competition of the high-angle rescue teams of Germany’s professional fire departments will take place on June 6, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Teams from a wide range of professional fire departments across the country will compete against each other and demonstrate their expertise in four diverse and demanding challenge stations.
Under the motto “Technology, Teamwork and Tactics” visitors can look forward to an exciting competition that vividly showcases the wide-ranging demands of modern high-angle rescue operations.
The focus is not only on speed — above all, precision, communication, improvisation skills, and safe working practices in challenging situations are essential.
Participants will face a variety of tasks in the stations “Higher Is Not Always Better”, “Geocaching” “Mission Impossible” and “Rescue from the Micro Forest.” Each station requires different skills and is based on realistic operational scenarios.
Whether tactical procedures, navigation, technical rescue, or complex team challenges, the competition offers a varied program featuring exciting tasks and spectacular scenes.
Visitors will gain a unique insight into the work of high-angle rescue teams and experience firsthand how professionally, focused, and efficiently the teams operate. At the same time, the event provides opportunities for exchange, networking, and shared perspectives on modern rescue techniques and operational concepts.
