A fire in a road tunnel presents fire brigades with extraordinary challenges: complex operational situations, heavy smoke development, and long escape and rescue routes put both emergency personnel and affected persons at risk. This makes thorough preparation for managing fires in road tunnels all the more important.
At the International Fire Academy, emergency personnel train in a globally unique tunnel training facility under realistic operational conditions. Reconnaissance, search and rescue, as well as firefighting are specifically trained under difficult conditions. During several operational exercises, course participants manage realistic scenarios – ensuring maximum readiness when it matters most.
Since 2009, the International Fire Academy has trained firefighters from Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Training languages are German, English, French, and Italian.
The focus of all training programs is on practical work. The sequence of numerous exercise modules ensures an intensive learning experience.
