The emergency medical services demand planning process defines, in particular, the required scope of station structures and the provision of emergency resources. For many years, the performance of emergency medical services in Germany has been influenced by various socioeconomic factors. While incident volumes continue to rise, the resources needed to manage them remain scarce. Since the level of resource provision can hardly be increased proportionally, the efficient use of existing resources will become more important than ever in the future. To ensure that well-designed solutions gain acceptance among decision-makers, cost bearers, and employees alike, robust methods for developing holistic implementation concepts are essential.
We address these challenges by conducting an in-depth analysis of the service area at the beginning of every emergency medical services demand plan. In doing so, we not only collect key performance indicators but also examine the underlying causes. This enables us to tackle precisely those causes when developing the overall concept and to achieve targeted improvements with the least possible effort.
When determining the required resource provision, we combine established assessment methods with mathematical optimization models. Naturally, we also consider alternative care concepts and compare different systems with regard to their expected effects.
Our goal is to develop holistic solutions for emergency medical services. In line with our philosophy, we always focus on the operational feasibility and personnel viability of our target concept. Finally, the practical experience our consultants bring from their own work in emergency medical services plays a decisive role in shaping our solutions.
