The rescEU CBRN-DSIM-IT project is an Italian led European initiative designed to strengthen the response capacity of the European Civil Protection Mechanism regarding Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear emergencies. The project,coordinated at operational. level by the Italian Fire and Rescue Service,with the adminstrative and scientific support of ENEA and of a highly CBRN Italian partnership,focuses on a CBRN capacity built around 11 vehicles and mobile laboratories,that cover the entire CBRN mission chain: detection, sampling, monitoring, command-control, decontamination, medical screening, scientific analysis,logistics. The project also includes training for 100 units. Its purpose is to go beyond existing national assets, filling a strategic gap in the response to High-Impact Low-Probability events, especially when such events have cross-border, transnational or European relevance.
