The Feuerwehr Hannover operates a Special Rescue from Heights and Depths unit (SRHT). This specialist team was established one year after the Expo 2000 took place in Hanover.
To mark the unit’s anniversary year, a wide range of rescue techniques and exercises will be demonstrated in Pavilion 34. A particular highlight is an original cable car cabin from the former EXPO 2000 cable car system, which will be used for live rescue demonstrations.
Numerous hands-on activities and exhibits will showcase the work of the Hanover Fire Department’s high-angle rescue team and draw attention to the long-standing existence of this specialist unit.
On Saturday, June 6, 2026, the performance competition of the German professional fire departments will also take place at the exhibition grounds. Twelve participating teams from across Germany will be present in Hanover and, at the end of the day, will crown the national winner of this year’s competition.
