The importance of the dispatch center as an independent link in the emergency response chain—including its influence on operational tactics and therapeutic processes—is becoming increasingly clear. However, this realization has not led to greater uniformity among dispatch centers.
From the fundamentals of staffing levels, through personnel qualifications and compensation, and technical redundancies, all the way to questions of cost-effectiveness, we identify approaches and solutions tailored to specific municipalities, states, or operating entities. In most cases, these will be highly efficient and economically sound; in other control center areas, however, there may be room for improvement.
The legal framework is often driven solely by economic considerations; operational and qualitative factors are either not fully taken into account or fall victim to budget cuts.
