Hannover, Germany. Changing threat scenarios are confronting fire services around the world with ever-new challenges. INTERSCHUTZ, the world’s leading trade fair for firefighting, rescue services and civil protection, will take place in Hanover from June 1 to 6, 2026, serving as a showcase for the wide range of changes in vehicles and equipment. Hardware and software are also being continuously adapted to meet rising requirements. Researchers and manufacturers are working hand in hand to achieve this. The guiding principle is to leverage digital technologies and act in a connected way. What the firefighting world of tomorrow will look like will be demonstrated at exhibition stands in the halls, in the outdoor area, and within the conference program.

Whether vehicles and their equipment, firefighting technology and extinguishing agents, the design of fire stations and workshops, or concepts for education and training – all of this will be presented by leading providers. In addition, associations, organizations, and service companies will showcase their portfolios. High-level international firefighting delegations have registered from Germany and abroad, including from Singapore, Taiwan, South America, Sweden, and Denmark – with some of the longest-traveling guests coming from Australia and New Zealand. Beyond the large-scale presentation of products and services, demonstrations, lectures, and competitions, they aim to once again use INTERSCHUTZ as a platform for networking, the vital transfer of knowledge, and for nurturing old and new friendships across national borders.

“Digital technology and AI are just two of the keywords that will significantly shape INTERSCHUTZ,” says Thilo Horstmann, Head of INTERSCHUTZ at Deutsche Messe. “Manufacturers will present genuine innovations and the best solutions for fire and disaster protection. INTERSCHUTZ is and will remain the international world-leading trade fair for the sector.”

In the core focus area “Firefighting,” the event traditionally covers everything related to preventive and defensive fire protection. Alongside many exhibiting companies, Rosenbauer, the world’s leading manufacturer of firefighting technology in defensive fire and disaster protection, has long been one of INTERSCHUTZ’s key exhibitors. The Ziegler Group, one of the internationally leading providers of firefighting vehicles and firefighting equipment, will also be present with professional, state-of-the-art solutions for fire suppression, emergency response, and rescue management. Magirus, the world’s leading provider of aerial ladder trucks, is likewise preparing for INTERSCHUTZ 2026. BMW will present, among other things, its vehicles and motorcycles that are successfully used by police forces, fire services, emergency physicians, and rescue services.

“Technology for Life” is the motto of Dräger. One of the company’s goals is to protect the lives of others without putting one’s own health at risk. Dräger’s state-of-the-art firefighting equipment, including personal protective equipment, is in high demand both domestically and internationally. S-Gard will also present high-quality, durable protective clothing that shields against extreme heat, moisture, and toxic substances.

From Türkiye – a country strongly represented among INTERSCHUTZ exhibitors – Volkan will be present as a manufacturer in the fields of firefighting, rescue services, and civil protection. The company focuses on technologically advanced and specialized emergency vehicles as well as components for fire services and emergency responders. The French company Groupe DESAUTEL, an established, family-owned provider of fire protection, firefighting, rescue, and safety technology, will also be participating in INTERSCHUTZ 2026. DESAUTEL stands for holistic fire protection – from prevention and equipment to operational readiness – and delivers products and services that strengthen fire services, rescue organizations, and civil protection. From the UAE, NAFFCO (National Fire Fighting Manufacturing FZCO) will present itself at the trade fair. The company is a globally active manufacturer and solution provider for firefighting, fire protection, and safety technology, making a broad technological and operational contribution particularly in fire protection, rescue services, and civil protection. NAFFCO thus sees itself not only as a supplier of firefighting and rescue equipment, but as a global solution provider in civil security and civil protection, offering protection systems, vehicles, services, and expertise from a single source.

Premiere of FEU Leadership Conference at INTERSCHUTZ 2026

With the first FEU Leadership Conference during INTERSCHUTZ 2026 in Hanover, the Federation of European Fire Officers aims to bring together European fire chiefs in a premiere conference format on 3 and 4 June 2026. According to the organisation, more than 300 leaders from fire and civil protection agencies across Europe, as well as from international partner countries, are expected to attend. Like INTERSCHUTZ itself, the event will be held under the theme “Safeguarding Tomorrow” and aims to create a leading European strategic platform for those shaping the future of European fire services and civil protection.

In light of a convergence of pressures – including hybrid threats, geopolitical instability, digital vulnerabilities, extreme climate events, and rising expectations from citizens – the need for clear-headed, future-oriented leadership has never been greater.

Over the two conference days, the FEU will bring together senior representatives from the European Commission, NATO, national fire and civil protection agencies, and international fire service leaders from the United States, Australia, Singapore, and other partner countries to explore how European emergency services must evolve to remain capable, resilient, and strategically aligned in an increasingly disruptive world.
