Sustainably halt advancing fire fronts
BosQRet is a liquid fire retardant from Dr. Sthamer and is used to coat dry vegetation with a special mixture of water-soluble substances that greatly suppress and thus delay the ignition and burning of treated vegetation.

New tactical options for fighting forest and vegetation fires
Forest and vegetation fires are becoming increasingly frequent and intense. They pose a major risk to humans and animals, but also to forests as an economic factor and, in particular, as a CO2 sink. Forests and other vegetation areas are therefore sensitive ecosystems that are worthy of protection and react sensitively to external influences. It is therefore crucial to develop effective and environmentally friendly solutions for firefighting.
Environmentally friendly formulation from BosQRet
BosQRet, a product from Dr. Sthamer, offers a state-of-the-art product line of biodegradable firefighting water additives that have been specially developed to delay and stop fire fronts and flanks in forest and vegetation fires. Their biodegradability has been confirmed by specific environmental reports from recognized and independent testing institutes. These so-called retardants open up new tactical options in firefighting and help to ensure the safety and protection of people and nature. An essential aspect here is the environmentally friendly formulation of BosQRet. According to the developer, the selection of highly effective and at the same time environmentally friendly ingredients makes BosQRet a responsible choice for firefighting that both protects the environment and increases the effectiveness of the measures.
Flexible flame retardant concentrate
A prime example of the product line is BosQRet #1801, a liquid, pre-colored flame retardant concentrate developed for use by fire departments and support units in fighting forest and vegetation fires. It can be used as both a wet and dry barrier. This flexibility allows emergency personnel to stop the advancing fire front or limit its lateral spread along the flanks.
Depending on the terrain and vegetation, flame lengths can be significantly reduced, enabling an active attack on the fire front. By adjusting the concentration of the active ingredient (mixing ratio) and the characteristics of the barrier, the spread of flames can even be stopped completely, so that only a follow-up check of the burned area is necessary. As a flame retardant, it can also be used preventively to secure areas during landscape maintenance or backfires.
BosQRet #1801's flame retardant properties are effective at concentrations as low as five percent. At this concentration, it can be applied as a wet barrier in front of the fire front. Depending on the width of the BosQRet barrier and the flame length of the approaching fire front, this barrier will not be overwhelmed. The fuel up to the barrier burns up and the fire is extinguished, enabling effective control of the fire situation.
Another advantage is the possibility of using BosQRet #1801 as a long-term retardant in the form of a dry barrier. With extensive application and sufficient lead time, the fire front can be stopped at the dried-out barrier, depending on the flame length and speed. This opens up new possibilities for the tactical planning of firefighting operations, especially in areas contaminated with ammunition, where resource-saving firefighting is necessary without endangering the personnel involved.
BosQRet #1801 can be applied from the ground using standard firefighting equipment, but is also compatible with fogging and turbine technologies. Material compatibility for use with external load containers such as Bambi buckets has also been confirmed.
