The first hydraulically driven mobile large fan in lightweight construction
BIG Brandschutz Innovationen was founded in Giengen/Brenz in 1991 with the aim of developing and introducing innovative products for firefighting and fire department operations. According to its own information, BIG pioneered the introduction of positive pressure ventilation with high-performance fans, a new method at the time for rapid smoke extraction, heat control, and fresh air supply in firefighting operations.
Today, positive pressure ventilation, also known as incident site ventilation or tactical ventilation, is a standard application practiced by fire departments and rescue teams in almost all countries. Positive pressure ventilation is now also being used successfully in the industrial sector.
One of the most comprehensive product ranges for on-site ventilation
Ventilating and cooling large structures such as halls, underground car parks, high-rise buildings, airports, subway, railway, and road tunnels poses considerable challenges for fire departments. A tunnel fire can quickly turn into a disaster, as tragic cases in the past have shown.
In 1995, BIG was the first manufacturer to launch a solution to this problem with its mobile large fan. The product range has been continuously expanded in recent years. Today, BIG offers one of the most comprehensive product ranges for on-site ventilation for fire departments and disaster control.
Mobile large fans in lightweight construction
BIG will soon be presenting the latest state of the art at INTERSCHUTZ 2026 in Hanover: According to the manufacturer, the Xtreme Performance Fan XP 105/125 is the first hydraulically driven mobile large fan in lightweight construction.
The newly developed large fan is said to offer unique flexibility and extreme performance for ventilating large-volume objects. The enormous tilt range of plus 40 degrees to minus 90 degrees even allows vertical ventilation via ground-level openings such as ventilation shafts and supply ducts. The patented lifting device is said to enable a huge range of applications.
Four hours of maximum performance on a single tank of fuel
The MGV's hydraulic drive is powered by an extremely reliable diesel engine. It complies with the EU Stage V emissions standard, is very economical, and, with its 60-liter stainless steel tank, offers
a running time of well over four hours at full power. The fan's design allows for optimal airflow to the impeller, resulting in extreme air performance in this class.
Total height of less than two meters
Consistent integration of technology into the trailer's design makes it possible to build the XP 105/125 as the only hydraulically driven MGV with just one axle, and the handles integrated into the sides allow emergency personnel to position it easily by hand.
Despite its enormous lifting height, the MGV XP 105/125 has a total height of less than two meters in the transport position and can therefore be transported to the site of operation even through low car passages.
