On Wednesday, the conference program will focus on the theme “Global Strategy and Security,” while Thursday’s sessions will be grouped under “Climate, Innovation, Leadership.” In light of the increasing convergence of multiple pressures – including hybrid threats, geopolitical instability, digital vulnerabilities, extreme climate events, and rising public expectations – the need for clear, forward-looking leadership has never been greater.

“As global instability and climate-driven disasters intensify, Europe’s fire services must think and act strategically. As an official side event of Interschutz 2026, the FEU Leadership Conference brings together senior fire and civil protection leaders to reflect on shared responsibility to lead, collaborate and innovate – today, for the safety of tomorrow”, says Stephan Wevers, FEU president.

Commitments have already been received from senior representatives of the European Commission, NATO, as well as national fire and civil protection authorities for the two conference days. In addition, leaders from European and international fire, rescue, and disaster management organizations will take the stage, including Anthony Marrone, LA County Fire Chief, Eric Yap, Commissioner of the Singapore Civil Defence Force, Jonathan Smith, Fire Commissioner of the London Fire Brigade, and Marko Klaos, Director General of the Estonian Rescue and Disaster Management Authority.

Experts from Dutch Wildfire in the Netherlands and from the Australia Fire Services will also be participating. During INTERSCHUTZ 2026 they will dicuss how European fire and civil protection authorities must continue to evolve in order to remain operational, resilient, and strategically aligned in an increasingly disruptive world.
