A sense of community via WhatsApp

Fire departments are typically organized locally while also being part of a global community. With “World. Wide. We.,” Lakeland, in collaboration with the LHD Group Germany, aims to highlight precisely this unifying element: different countries, different structures—but the same challenges in the field. At the heart of the new initiative is a Germany-wide WhatsApp channel that focuses on posts from the global fire department community as well as local fire department infotainment.

From LHD to Lakeland and Around the World

LHD has been a household name among firefighters in Germany for years. The brand is known for protective clothing designed for real-world conditions in volunteer and professional fire departments. Since 2024, LHD has been part of the international Lakeland Fire + Safety family. As a result, an established German brand has become part of the global Lakeland brand group—alongside Jolly, Eagle, Pacific Helmets, and Veridian. Together, the group offers protective solutions from head to toe—from firefighting suits and boots to helmets and other accessories.

With “World. Wide. We.,” Lakeland conveys this international vision in its communications. The initiative highlights what unites firefighters worldwide: the desire to help, a sense of responsibility during operations, and trust in their team and equipment.

“World. Wide. We.” Meets WhatsApp

A key component is the new WhatsApp channel “World. Wide. We.,” which is specifically aimed at firefighters in the DACH region. There, international greetings from fire departments, insights into different operational realities, and curated content about everyday life in the fire service are shared. The goal is not to create a discussion forum, but rather a compact information and community channel that supports firefighters throughout Germany.

The initiative will be showcased at INTERSCHUTZ 2026

“LAKELAND products protect firefighters all over the world. ‘World. Wide. We.’ reinforces the sentiment behind this—that international ‘we’ that is a given in the fire service. We want to foster this sense of community in Germany through our WhatsApp channel,” said Sarah Dolgi, Manager of Marketing & Sales Operations at LHD Group Deutschland GmbH. The initiative will also be on display at INTERSCHUTZ 2026 in Hanover. There, Lakeland, together with LHD and other brands in the group, will highlight its international focus and invite visitors to become part of the “World. Wide. We.” community.
