Progress with tact and sensitivity

Seiz recognized that high-tech textile materials are superior to leather in many respects as early as the beginning of the 1990s. At that time, the company launched the “Seiz Fire-Fighter,” the first textile firefighting glove on the market, setting standards for high-quality, durable, comfortable, and safe firefighting gloves. According to Seiz, this model established the company's reputation as a technology leader and helped it achieve its international breakthrough.

Rainer Seiz is the second generation to run the family business, which was founded in 1961, and was himself a member of the volunteer fire department.

Expansion of the Fire-Fighter series

Seiz has now expanded its Fire-Fighter series with the “Fire-Fighter Nova,” adapting it to new requirements and developments. The new glove offers firefighters a number of advantages. Thanks to its patented “SeizFit” cut, it fits better on the fingers. The layers used also mean that there is only one seam across the fingertips; with a normal, anatomical cut, there are up to four seams. The result is a very high level of dexterity: during certification, the Fire-Fighter Nova achieved the maximum dexterity rating of 5. This ensures a high level of comfort and makes tasks that require a high degree of dexterity much easier.

When you're on the job, every second counts. This is when the advantages of the “FastClose” closure system fitted to the glove really come into their own. The wide cuff can be closed quickly and securely with a Velcro fastening system and is then worn as a close-fitting cuff under the jacket sleeve. This creates an optimal connection between the glove and the jacket, is comfortable, and saves valuable time compared to other closure systems.

The material mix ensures a high level of safety. Thanks to Kevlar fibers and stainless steel, the “Fire-Fighter Nova” achieves the maximum cut protection level F according to the TDM test. The silicone and carbon-coated palm, in combination with the mix of Kevlar and Nomex fibers, offers maximum heat protection. The Gore-Tex membrane, which extends all the way to the end of the cuff, provides all-round protection during use, preventing sparks, particles, or harmful liquids from reaching the arm—even if the jacket slips down. The membrane is also blood, bacteria, and waterproof, as well as breathable. In addition, the knuckle protector absorbs shocks, providing safety for the backhand and thus reducing the risk of injury during use.

Another important aspect of safety is operational hygiene. Here too, the Fire-Fighter Nova has a lot to offer. The antibacterial inner lining, which complies with DIN EN ISO 20743, contributes to improved infection protection for emergency personnel. However, the most important feature is its certified washability: even after 30 washes at 60 degrees Celsius, the model still meets all the requirements of EN 659 – a value that, according to Seiz, is unique in the firefighting sector. This consistent quality and durability also reduces the cost of new purchases – and protects the hands of firefighters in the long term.
