Based in Busdorf, between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, LEAB Automotive GmbH develops and manufactures products and solutions for mobile power supply in emergency, special-purpose, and commercial vehicles. The North German company places particular emphasis on short supply chains to ensure fast and reliable delivery to its customers throughout Europe.

Like its proven predecessor, the PowAirBox II is a system for supplying power and compressed air to emergency vehicles with automatic ejection. Supply is provided via a special coupling that combines compressed air and electricity in a single line. The robust housing made of glass-fiber-reinforced polyamide is rated IP55, making it dustproof and splash-proof. The display integrated into the front of the PowAirBox II allows the status of the supply network and the charge level of the batteries to be easily read at any time. The integrated undervoltage monitor provides both visual and audible alarms in the event of deep discharge of the vehicle battery. In addition, this and other data and control functions are available via CAN bus.

The separation of the power and compressed air supply and the automatic disengagement of the coupling are monitored and controlled by newly developed sensor technology and function even during manual operation. As long as the coupling is not disengaged, the start prevention feature is activated to ensure maximum safety. A multi-stage power control system monitors the coupling’s engagement and disengagement and controls the switching on and off of the load. This optimizes wear-free engagement and disengagement even with particularly high-power inductive and capacitive loads.

The PowAirBox II is fully compatible with the previous version. Both the coupling fit and the mounting dimensions remain unchanged, allowing vehicles to be easily retrofitted with the PowAirBox II. A corresponding adapter makes the retrofit straightforward. Thanks to the shallow installation depth, installation is simple and flexible.
