The history of the fight against forest fires is strongly rooted in the reality of the Piedmontese mountain populations, who spontaneously organized themselves for centuries to face this serious danger.
In the 70s of the 900 this experience developed an ever greater operation, until in 1994 the "Regional Association of Volunteers of Forest Fire Fighters of Piedmont" was born. The following year the Association obtained registration in the Regional Org Register. Volunteering Civil Protection Sector with D.P.G.R. 799/1995.
A strong synergy between the AIB and the Piedmont Region - Department of Mountain Economy and Forests is therefore born, which leads to the signature, pursuant to Regional Law no. 16/94, of a special Convention.
Together with the then State Forestry Corps, the three subjects on which the Regional Forest Fire Service was based were configured.
The Service could count on over 6,000 volunteers, already then organized in about 240 teams spread throughout the Piedmontese
