With the completely redesigned HoseCleaner hose washing machine, hoses will in future no longer be cleaned in the fire station, but directly at the place of use. The development goal was the consistent orientation towards a mobile and compact device that is in no way inferior to conventional devices in terms of washing performance. For this purpose, two washing brushes are driven by a replaceable 28V Milwaukee battery. The four washing nozzles at the inlet and outlet provide the necessary washing and rinsing performance and are supplied with water from the fire engine via a D-connection. The compact dimensions of 400x400x280mm are hardly larger than a headlamp unit and can therefore be easily accommodated in any equipment room. Peripheral handle bars on both sides allow effortless gripping for transporting or loading the unit, which weighs only 24 kg.
The prototype was developed in close cooperation with US fire departments. The North Carolina Institute of Textile has confirmed in a study that regular hose washing drastically reduces the concentration of carcinogenic pollutants on the hose. In the U.S. and many other countries, traditional hose washing has not been done in the firehouse until now. With the HoseCleaner, it is now possible for fire departments to integrate the cleaning process into the procedure at the scene of the incident, thus preventing contamination of personnel and vehicles. The dirt remains at the scene of the incident.
