The work of the security authorities of the police, the Office for the Protection of the Constitution and the fire department, the reception of refugees, the recruitment of young talent in public administration, civil service law, the state's IT infrastructure, the municipalities and sports: the Lower Saxony Ministry of the Interior and Sports is responsible for a wide range of topics.
One central task is internal security. The Ministry of the Interior is responsible for the protection of the constitution and the police with its more than 18,000 police officers, who are responsible for the security of citizens in Lower Saxony. The Lower Saxony police, as an institution that is close to the citizens, level-headed and capable of taking action, is constantly evolving in order to be able to respond to changes in society or even new crime phenomena.
