The Federal Agency for Public Safety Digital Radio (BDBOS) reports to the Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community. The Federal Agency is responsible for the construction, operation, and development of the Public Safety Digital Radio. Since January 1, 2019, the Federal Agency has also been responsible for the operation of the Federal Networks.
With the Public Safety Digital Radio (Digitalfunk BOS), police forces, fire brigades, ambulances, disaster relief and civil protection authorities of the federal and state governments, as well as the German armed forces (Bundeswehr) have a common, powerful, and highly secure communication tool at their disposal.
The Federal Networks (Netze des Bundes), operated by BDBOS, are a coherent and highly available network infrastructure, which meets the highest security standards and is used for communication among all federal authorities.
