All up, 11 German companies will be taking part in the 2019 edition of Australia’s leading trade show for the fire and rescue services and civil protection, which will be held in Melbourne from 27 to 30 August. The pavilion’s size has grown by about a third since 2018, and now totals just under 100 square meters (slighty more than 1,070 sq. ft.).

In another development of great moment for Germany’s emergency services sector, German Fire Services Association (DFV) President Hartmut Ziebs will become the first-ever German speaker to take part in the AFAC conference program. He will be talking about "German volunteer fire brigades at fire scenes – Best practice".

Ziebs will be speaking on Wednesday, August 28, at 11:40 a.m. in the Volunteer Capability stream.

  • The pavilion is jointly organized by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and the German Fire Protection Association (GFPA), which is also a co-organizer of the INTERSCHUTZ show in Hannover, Germany. AFAC19 powered by INTERSCHUTZ is a joint project between the Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council (AFAC), the Bushfire and Natural Hazards Cooperative Research Centre and Deutsche Messe subsidiary Hannover Fairs Australia Pty Ltd.

    Deutsche Messe adds value to AFAC by contributing its expertise in the management of major trade shows, while AFAC boosts the international profile of Deutsche Messe’s INTERSCHUTZ show held in Hannover, Germany.
