Infrastructure for Critical Situations

Hannover-based tent manufacturer LANCO is known for fully operational shelter systems for fire and rescue operations, first-aid stations, and triage units. Four models lead the rescue product line now being presented at INTERSCHUTZ 2026 in Hannover: the RES – Rapid Expeditionary Shelter, the SG aluminum-frame tent, the FRZ folding rescue tent, and the ARZ air tent. All are based on the same core idea: the shelter must never become a bottleneck.

Two people – sixty seconds

According to LANCO, there is a moment in every emergency operation when the tent must be set up. Everything else—triage, treatment, or coordination—depends on this moment. For fire departments and rescue teams, a shelter that takes time to set up is a shelter that costs time they don’t have.

LANCO’s solution to this problem is the RES – Rapid Expeditionary Shelter. Two people and sixty seconds – that’s all it takes, and the structure is ready to serve as a first-aid station, command post, or field hospital, depending on the situation’s needs. The RES can be stowed in a single portable bag, set up without tools, and connected to other RES units to expand a base camp or coordination center if an incident escalates. LANCO developed the RES shelter based on decades of feedback from first responders and emergency personnel: simplicity under pressure is an operational requirement.

When stability matters more than speed

The RES is suitable for operations where setup time is critical. But not every rescue operation proceeds at the same pace. For teams that need shelter with greater structural durability - one that can withstand changing weather conditions over days or weeks - LANCO’s SG aluminum-frame tent serves a different purpose. The SG tent features a more robust profile: a durable, waterproof construction used by fire and rescue teams worldwide as shelters, command centers, and first-aid stations. Its high tear resistance and low-maintenance design make it a reliable option for long-term operations, not just for the first hour of a mission.

LANCO has been manufacturing SG tents since the 1970s. Since then, their popularity has grown, making them a hallmark of the German market. Together, the RES and SG tents cover the two situations rescue teams face: the immediate, fast-paced phase of an operation and the subsequent longer-term follow-up phase once an operation is established.

A wider selection of tents for more diverse requirements

In addition to these two models, LANCO’s rescue range includes the foldable FRZ rescue tent, which can be fully set up quickly by two people, as well as the inflatable ARZ tent, which can be set up by a single person in just a few minutes using an electric blower or compressed air. Both tents are used worldwide by fire departments and emergency services, with their applications ranging from equipment storage to providing shelter during extended camp operations.

All fabrics are flame-retardant and waterproof

What unites the product range is its uniformity: All fabrics are flame-retardant and waterproof, setup requires no special tools, and each system is designed so that it can be maintained on-site by the same teams that use it. LANCO has been manufacturing deployable shelter systems since 1953. The company’s range of tents is used by fire departments, civil defense organizations, and humanitarian organizations in Germany and around the world.
