More than just a pipe dream!
By recycling used fire hoses, which would otherwise pollute the environment as waste, Feuerwear GmbH & Co. KG produces high-end backpacks, bags and unusual accessories. At INTERSCHUTZ 2020, the company is exhibiting an array of unique products with a very eventful origin story.31 Jul. 2019 Trendspots Editorial Office
Since 2005, Feuerwear has been designing and producing its handmade, one-of-a-kind products, which are unmistakable thanks to their unique markings and obvious signs of use. However, this is much more than just a stylish aesthetic, because sustainability has always been at the heart of the company’s philosophy. In keeping with this ethos, the non-profit organization "atmosfair" also offsets the CO2 emissions that occur when shipping and transporting the company's goods. Not only that, but this Cologne-based upcycling company takes an eco-friendly approach to cleaning its hoses and only uses renewable electricity generated by Greenpeace Energy without the use of any coal or nuclear power plants. Moreover, a life cycle assessment conducted in collaboration with TÜV Rheinland has been laying the groundwork for further optimization in terms of sustainability since 2012.
Feuerwear's unique catalog, available both online through its web shop and in numerous retail outlets, was expanded in mid-June to include a special collection made of used, neon-yellow fire hoses. This new range includes a whole host of exciting products - from hip bags to roll-top backpacks. What’s more, the company has launched a clever campaign just in time for the holiday season: "Take your one-of-a-kind Feuerwear product on vacation!" Anyone who takes a picture of their Feuerwear product on their travels and posts it on Facebook or Instagram has the chance to win a voucher worth 50 euros.
