20 to 25 June 2022 in Hannover/Germany

As a learning unit, the fire department makes its contribution in terms of safety for people and as a civil society actor for peaceful coexistence - yesterday, today and in the future!

The rapid changes in technology and society are also affecting fire departments. Technical progress, digitalization, globalization, climate change, pandemics and migration events, but also the increasingly differentiated lifestyles of individuals have an impact on the system of helping hands of fire departments.

The 29th German Firefighters' Day will be held in the capital of Lower Saxony in cooperation with the state of Lower Saxony, the Lower Saxony Firefighters' Association, the city of Hanover and the Hanover Fire Department.

On June 21, fans young and old from the general public will be able to experience just how diverse and colorful the fire department is at Trammplatz/Neues Rathaus in the city center.

Further information on the event will be published at www.feuerwehrtag.de (german) .

Symposium "Violence against emergency forces"

Friday, June 24, 2022 | 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. | Convention Center Exhibition Grounds

Emergency and rescue forces in Germany are subjected to insults and even physical assaults practically every day. This is the result of several studies conducted in recent years. To raise public awareness of the issue, a symposium is being held at the Convention Center on the Hannover Exhibition Grounds. The event is part of the 29th German Firefighters' Day and the DFV program at the INTERSCHUTZ trade fair. Impulses and a panel discussion will focus on victims of (non-)verbal and physical violence. Representatives from the fire department, politics and the judiciary will jointly consider how to improve protection and support for those affected. Where do the causes of altercations lie? Why are assaults rarely punished in court? What consequences should training and leadership draw in order to keep the mission safe and attractive for human lives in the long term? The symposium is organized as part of the federal program "Cohesion through Participation" of the Federal Ministry of the Interior and Homeland. The event is free of charge.
