A total of 29 teams from all over the world will take part in the Holmatro Rescue Challenge to demonstrate their skills in operational management and use of technical rescue equipment. After a 20-minute test, the three most successful teams will win their share of the total prize money amounting to €50,000.
The Rescue Challenge will be supervised and adjudicated by experienced, internationally recognized experts. Before the teams are asked to “get down to work” in the staged rescue scene they will be instructed on how to use Holmatro rescue equipment to free the trapped persons.
The vehicles used in the Holmatro Rescue Challenge are provided by BMW. This cooperation means that firefighters from all over the world have the opportunity to test and improve their skills on the latest BMW vehicles. For BMW the event at INTERSCHUTZ is a good opportunity to convey the latest developments in automotive technology to the participating teams – for example, with respect to high voltage and the structurally reinforced bodywork.
Winning a challenge of this kind is an honor in itself, however participants benefit in other ways. In recognition of their efforts the three top teams will receive additional rescue equipment from Holmatro worth €50,000. The prizes will be presented on the last day of INTERSCHUTZ in the categories “Best team overall”, “Best technical team” and “Best team spirit”.
As was the case in 2015, a video of the Holmatro Rescue Challenge 2020 will be streamed live.
