Fighting fires in water-incompatible environments through the use of extinguishing gases. Extinguishing systems are used in situations where the use of water-based extinguishing agents is not appropriate, for example, in a server room. The system is activated via electrical or mechanical trigger mechanisms. To make it safer for people, the extinguishing gas flows via extinguishing nozzles into the protected areas only after predefined delay times. Depending on the extinguishing gas used, there are the following different types of systems:-> ARGON gas extinguishing systemsThe extinguishing agent ARGON is mainly used to protect highly sensitive areas. It extinguishes the fire without any residues and without damage resulting from the extinguishing agent. The argon is stored at a pressure of up to 300 bars in steel cylinders. It extinguishes fire by reducing the oxygen level in the room, which means that additional personal protective measures are required.-> Chemical gas extinguishing systemsChemical extinguishing agents are always used when the fire must be extinguished extremely quickly. Unlike inert gas extinguishing systems, the extinguishing effect is based on a physical-chemical process. First the heat is absorbed and then the other free radicals are released in order to prevent the chain reaction of the combustion processThe extinguishing agent is stored as liquid at a pressure of up to 50 bars in steel cylinders. The extinguishing agent is pressed into the respective extinguishing area via a nitrogen blanket. This extinguishing gas poses no danger to humans.-> CO2 gas extinguishing systemsThe extinguishing agent carbon dioxide (CO2) is mainly used to protect flammable liquids and for extinguishing freestanding items such as those that are used in the production of protective equipment. The extinguishing agent is stored at a pressure of 50 bars in steel cylinders.
