Together with the project partners German Red Cross (DRK), Workers' Samaritan Federation (ASB), German Life Saving Association (DLRG), Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe (JUH) and Malteser (MHD), the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) presents the pilot project “Shelter Lab 5000” and the associated "federal emergency shelter capacity".
The federal emergency shelter capacity, which is currently being set up, is to comprise up to ten "mobile shelter and support modules". With the materials of such a module, up to 5000 people at a time can be accommodated and cared for at short notice, simultaneously and largely self-sufficiently for a period of up to one year. At our exhibition stand, visitors can find out about the project, the tests carried out so far and their results; examples of the material and equipment procured will also be on display. In addition there will be a lecture area where the shelter module and the initial deployment experiences will be presented.
