Classic fire truck parade a major drawcard

Fans of classic and vintage fire appliances are in for a big treat in Leipzig this year. From 10 to 13 June, the showgrounds next to Leipzig's Central Stadium will be home to an exhibition spanning 100 years of fire vehicles in Germany, courtesy of the German Fire Services Association (DFV) and the Saxony State Fire Service Association (LFV).

Then there's the "Nostalgia in Red" vintage rally, held every day from Tuesday 8 to Saturday 12 June, followed on Sunday 13 June by the grand final, a classic fire truck parade. The latter will be staged as a mock fire callout, with over 250 vehicles proceeding, sirens wailing, around an eight kilometer circuit through downtown Leipzig. The parade will start and finish at the Kleinmessegelände exhibition grounds.
