Hannover/Leipzig. Hannover
is to host the 29th German Firefighting Convention, which is run at the turn of
each decade, in 2020. The venue selection was made by the German Fire Services
Association (DFV) at the 28th German Firefighting Convention, which was staged
in parallel with the INTERSCHUTZ trade fair from 7 to 13 June this year in Leipzig. The decision
means that INTERSCHUTZ 2020 will also be held in Hannover,
as the fair is traditionally located at the same venue as the convention
whenever the two coincide. INTERSCHUTZ will also be staged in Hannover
in 2015 and 2025.
"We are absolutely delighted at the DFV's
decision. It is testimony to the great attractiveness of the Hannover Exhibition
Center and the Hannover
region generally," commented Stephan Ph. Kühne, a member of the Board of
Management of Deutsche Messe AG.
Held every five years, INTERSCHUTZ, the
international trade fair for rescue services, fire prevention, disaster relief,
safety and security, regularly attracts more than 100,000 trade visitors. The
parallel staging with the German Firefighting Convention is a further plus, as
Kühne explains: "INTERSCHUTZ and the German Firefighting Convention are a
winning combination, especially for our exhibitors and visitors. Together, they
transform Hannover into a major information
sharing and knowledge networking center for the fire services and all allied
industries."
The German Firefighting Convention, which
is the central dialogue hub for fire departments all over Germany,
comprises numerous events dedicated to young people, civic involvement and
Central European cooperation. It is also a lobbying forum designed to secure a
strong position for fire service interests in the minds of government
policymakers and the general public.
